WHAT IS SLEEP HYGIENE?

When you hear the phrase sleep hygiene, you may think that someone is calling your evening cleansing regime into question…

Not so folks. Sleep hygiene is the routine that you go through in the evening to prepare your brain and body to switch from day time to night time. More specifically, sleep hygiene helps your body transition from functioning mode to recovery mode.

From a fitness perspective, your recovery is vital in maximising your training. Through effective recovery, all the elements required in achieving results operate at peak efficiency (i.e. hormone synthesis, along with muscle growth and rest to train effectively).

Without effective recovery, the training effort is immediately undercut, hence the massive value of the recovery process. This all starts with quality sleep.
